Gayane Minasyan was born in USSR and moved to the USA when she was 10 years old. Growing up Gayane never faced a question of who she would like to become as an adult. Being in a family of fourth generation doctors, her parents saw her future as a doctor, who would eventually take over a family practice. Gayane’s family constantly traveled. She says, in her own words, “I don’t remember a time, in my childhood, when my suitcase wasn’t packed with my toys and clothes.” Seeking a better future for their children, her parents moved to Hollywood, California in 1996. Due to the family practice, they went back and forth from Russia to USA for a few years. At the age of 6, Gayane’s father signed her up for an art class. On the second day of class, the art instructor told her dad, that she did not have any talent and that he did not have to bring her back to class because she would never become an artist. So, as you can imagine, she never went back. At the age of 16, Gayane decided to take art classes on her own at a local art school. She was blown away by what "ART" is and what she is capable of doing as an artist. She exclaims, “I saw this whole new world… “ It was a class packed with 40 people, and that was the beginning of her adventures in drawing and painting.

As an artist, Gayane is always looking for new inspirations. She expresses, "My inspiration comes while working.” Gayane’s goal is to show conventional life, through the eye of the artist, whether it is a portrait, place, or objects. Her current work of mixed media shows colors and textures that change mundane life to the values and hues of an artist.

Gayane’s technique consists of mixing two or more mediums, such as watercolor and pastel, or acrylic and pastel, to achieve desired texture and patterns in order to bring values to the surface.

After graduating with a Master's in Fine Art from the Academy University of San Francisco, Gayane started working toward a new project in Nude Portraiture.
